ARENA’s ex president Antonio Salaverría supports FMLN

The former president of ARENA (conservative political party in El Salvador), Antonio Salaverría, made a public appearance, supporting FMLN’s  presidential ticket, Salvador Sanchez Ceren  and Oscar Ortiz, during a ceremony organized by coffee entrepreneurs.

Antonio Salaverría presided over the ceremony in which a group of country coffee entrepreneurs gave their political support to Salvador Sanchez Ceren and Oscar Ortiz.

The renowned businessman was once president of ARENA, and then  preceded in his post by Elias Antonio Saca.

Salvador Sanchez Ceren shared in his Twitter photos of the event and reported that Salaverría asked him to promote a "national agreement in the coffee sector" with the goal of improving the production of this valuable commodity of the Salvadoran economy.

The encounter took place during a ceremony organized by coffee entrepreneurs in Ataco, north of San Salvador, where the FMLN presidential candidate promised to end the conflict that remains between PROCAFE and the Salvadoran Coffee Council, two entities built around the coffee industry.

ARENA diminished the importance of the event. Meanwhile "Let's build together a strong institution for coffee producers," said Sanchez Ceren, as the industry applauded.
