FMLN up in the polls towards 2014 Presidential Elections in El Salvador

FMLN is up in the polls as 2014 Presidential Elections dealine approaches in El Salvador.

The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN ) is “first” in voting intentions towards the February 2 Presidential Elections in El Salvador, according to internal surveys of Movimiento Unidad, the center-right political coalition led by former president Elias Antonio Saca.

Elias Antonio Saca (2004-2009) said on December 27th, through the radio station YSKL, that the FMLN’s presidential ticket, Salvador Sanchez Ceren and Oscar Ortiz, is up in all polls conducted by all poll makers in El Salvador, including his own, Movimiento Unidad .

Saca said that the FMLN is up, and growing, by more than five points in the three surveys his Coalition made in December, 2013.

Saca also accepted that the race will be very difficult for him, while admitting that Unidad is tied in the polls against the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA), led by Norman Quijano.

With ARENA "We are tied and, in some cases, are one or two points up," he said.

Saca's coalition is made up of the Christian Democrat Party, the National Coalition Party and GANA.

Saca was expelled from ARENA, after the political defeat in 2009 to the FMLN.

According to the electoral registry, 4,955,107 Salvadorans are eligible to elect the president and vice president in the coming presidential elections in February 2, 2014. In all polls, the FMLN is ahead by 5 to 10 percentage points.
