Former President Calderon Sol Belies Former President Francisco Flores’s statements before Special Commission
“I do not know the mode of cooperation of Taiwan former President Flores is talking about” said Calderon Sol, without hesitation, when asked if you knew the type of cooperation Taiwan used to give to El Salvador during his administration.
Former President Calderón Sol insisted back and forth that at no time he or members of his administration received any personal cooperation money from Taiwan such as that former president Francisco Flores referred to when he appeared before the Commission.
Calderon said not to "be right person" to give an assessment on former Flores’s statements regarding the $10 million donation from Taiwan, taking into account that the investigation is in the hands of El Salvador’s Attorney General, Luis Martinez.
He added that he did not consider prudent to give a review about it. "It corresponds to the Attorney General to prosecute Francisco Flores for any wrong doing in the case," he reiterated.
Politically, however, Calderón Sol said that we should maintain the principle of innocence of former president Francisco Flores and hope that the institutions work to clarify the case.
