El Salvador’s Attorney General seizes Former President Francisco Flores’s assets

The Attorney General yesterday morning that, as a precautionary measure in the case investigating the whereabouts of the $ 10 million donated by the government of Taiwan, the assets of former President Francisco Flores have been temporarily seized.
The measure includes both bank accounts and all of Flores’s properties and corresponds to the investigation process sparked by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a special unit that prevents money laundering and suspicious financial practices of the Department of Treasury of the United States.
Attorney General Luis Martínez confirmed that the Special Commission of the Legislative Assembly investigating the case is valid until a final judgment is released by the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Meanwhile, Norman Quijano, ARENA’s presidential candidate, changed his speech now suggesting that the case should be left to the institutions to resolve.
