Government officials give support to FMLN’s presidential ticket

The presidential candidate and Vice President, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, said that he would continue to hire some current Cabinet members for his next Administration.

Most Cabinet members of the current Administration concentrated Sunday morning in front of the National Palace in downtown San Salvador, to offer their public support for the FMLN’s presidential ticket Salvador Sanchez Ceren and Oscar Ortiz.

Among the Cabinet members present at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jaime Miranda, Minister of Economy, Armando Flores, Minister of Health, Dr. Maria Isabel Rodriguez, Minister of Interior, Ernesto Zelayandia, Minister of Work and Labor, Humberto Centeno, Minister of Education, Franzi Hato Hasbun, and Minister of Public Works , Gerson Martinez, Deputy Minister of Health, Violeta Menjivar, Vice Minister of Economic Integration, Carlos Castaneda, Deputy Minister of Public Works, Robert Góchez, Deputy Minister of Transportation, Nelson Garcia, and the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Erlinda Handal.

Maria Isabel Rodriguez, the oldest member of the Cabinet, said that the formula Ceren-Ortiz guarantees "the continuity in the health care reform" undertaken by  the current administration, to get health care to Salvadorans, especially those living in rural areas.

Gerson Martinez, one of the best evaluated Cabinet members, said: "In fulfilling our civic duty, with a sense of responsibility towards the nation and citizens, we have come here to express our full support for the presidential formula Salvador and Oscar, to express our full conviction that El Salvador should not go back to the past of corruption, of abuses and privileges of the few.”

For his part, Minister of Education and Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency, Hato Hasbun, showed his support by saying: "The commitment of this party dates a while back, it was not created yesterday, 5  or 10 years ago, we have been working for this project for decades. The only force viable to win the elections is the FMLN, which has a great respect for the people. "

Sanchez Ceren and Oscar Ortiz thanked the crowd and the Cabinet members for showing their support.
